I love how this simple metaphor epitomizes my feelings about August: the sense of finality and melancholia I experience every Sunday evening, as my weekend is drawing to a close, is intensified each August as summer tapers to an end. Fortunately, August brings with it a sense of excitement and fresh beginnings as we enter into September. (Am I the only one that considers September – and not January – the beginning of a new year? Or is that just a thing among teachers and students?)
In order to fully enjoy these last days of summer, and to allow myself time to focus on my plans for the coming school year, I will be taking the next couple weeks off of blogging. But don’t worry, I’ll be back! As of this month, I have a complete year of blogging under my belt, and I don’t intend to give it up any time soon. See you in the “new year!”
